Ejigbo, Lagos — In a move aimed at delivering tangible infrastructure dividends to his constituents, Hon. Okey Joe Onuakalusi has recently and officially commissioned the newly tarred Segun Awolowo Street in Ejigbo, within the Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II.

The commissioning ceremony marks the fulfilment of a promise made by the lawmaker after residents of the street appealed for road rehabilitation during his visit in November 2025, when he donated and commissioned a 300KVA transformer to resolve the area’s long-standing electricity challenges.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Okey Joe Onuakalusi expressed satisfaction at keeping his word to the community. “For years, the residents of Segun Awolowo Street yearned for basic infrastructure and development,” he said.
“During my campaign, I listened to their concerns and made a commitment to be a representative who delivers tangible results, not empty promises. I am proud to have fulfilled that promise.”
The lawmaker emphasised that his intervention was not limited to the road project. He also empowered women in the community with sewing machines and grinding machines to boost household incomes and support small-scale businesses.
Hon. Okey Joe stressed that his representation transcends party, religious, or ethnic lines. “This represents my commitment to delivering real dividends of democracy to the people of Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II irrespective of party, religion or tribal affiliation,” he added.
The event was attended by notable community leaders and stakeholders, including Alhaji Abdul Razaq Adebisi Jegede, Chief John Uche, Mrs. Adeola, Alhaji Toriola, Bishop Remigus Agu, and several others.
Residents expressed joy over the development, which they described as a significant improvement to living conditions on the street.
The lawmaker described the road commissioning as one of several interventions he has facilitated across the constituency. “This is only one of many interventions I have facilitated across Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, and by the grace of God, I remain committed to doing even more for our people,” he said.
“Together, we will continue building a better Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II and a new Nigeria that is possible.”
The development comes as part of ongoing efforts by elected representatives to address infrastructure deficits in parts of Lagos State.
