The activities leading to the internment of the late philanthropist,Chief Adindu Alex Ezeamu (Dikenemereoramma-Anaeriaku) began in Abuja yesterday at the Nigerian Air force Conference Centre (NAF) with a Night of Tribute.
People from all walks of life including the high and the mighty in the business, political and social circles were there to pay respect to the man who touched many lives in his 54 years sojourn on Earth.
From Peter Obi to Chris Ngige, former governors of Anambra State and other current and past political office holders to Chief Obinna Iyiegbu(Obi Cubana) who led members of the Pinnacle Club of Nigeria to the event, some other bigwigs from his native town Ekwulobia were equally in attendance.
They include Chief Ifeanyi Amaonye(ife-Ekwulobia),Chief Livinus Anagbogu (Gbutuougo),Chief Emma Okeke(Ichie Okwoike,Hon.Afam Ezenwafor (AFAMATION) and host of others.
With the Abuja Night of Tribute over, attention is now focused on the main event of April 23 which is the day the iroko will be committed to the Mother earth in his ancestral home.
To make the event a memorable one, befitting of the status of the late business mogul who committed so much in the infrastructural development of his home town during his life time, forming a Local Organizing Committee of Dikenenemereora’s Burial was suggested by some of these Ekwulobia patriots at the ceremony.
In proposing the Committee, Chief Livinus Anagbogu (Gbutuougo) said after the inaugural burial event in Abuja that the need for an adhoc Committee whose membership will be open to all well meaning sons of Ekwulobia is much desirable. Those who would want to identify with Chief Adindu Alex Ezeamu in death.
Gbutuougo said that Ekwulobia people both at home and in diaspora desirous of honouring late Chief Ezeamu should come forward and key into the program of the Committee.
“Much is not needed as only wilful donations and small amount of money for members asoebi/burial uniform to be worn on the day are just the necessary contributions to make”he said.
It is pertinent to note that with what happened at the Night of Tribute, Ekwulobia will likely be shut down on the day Chief Ezeamu will be buried.
Based on the above, some of us Indigenes of Ekwulobia who witnessed the Abuja event later retired at the Villa Park Hotels,Abuja where the idea of raising the 4 Man steering Local Organizing Committee members was agreed on.
Present at the meeting include Rev. Goddy Okonkwor former DG Finance NNPC,,Ichie Emmanuel Okeke(Onyeomagbuagu),Bar.Nonso Ezeuchu,Mr Obinwanne Ikeh of Zenith Bank Abuja Branch,Chief Ngadi Ezeamu (for the Ezeamu family),Chief Ifeanyi Amaonye (Pounds& Dollars)Hon.Afam Ezenwafor,Chief Odili Anagbogu (Onodugo)and others.
In the meeting,it was agreed that no stone should be left unturned to give Chief Adindu Alex Ezeamu a befitting burial.
Top on the card is to bring Ekwulobia local content into the burial program since a lot of other interest groups will be involved in the event.
Such local content include placement of Obituary announcement in both national and state print and electronic media, sourcing of gunpowder (Nsi egbe) for gun salutes, local security arrangements, traditional and cultural dance groups and every other thing with bias to our local burial rites.
To drive home the agenda,a steering committee made up 4 key positions were agreed at the meeting .
Accordingly, Amaechi Hebert Ezeokoye former President of Ekwulobia People’s Assembly,Abuja Branch was elected as the Chairman,Bar.Nonso Ezeuchu as the Secretary, Obinwanne Ikeh of the Zenith Bank Plc as the Financial Secretary and Owelle Ekwulobia,Chief Ifeanyi Ogwatta as the Public Relations Officer.
The meeting equally agreed that the Chief Adindu Alex Ezeamu Local Organizing Committee is non partisan ,non political and non religious. That the common denominator is for all men of goodwill and Ekwulobia extraction (home and in diaspora)to come together and give honour to whom honour is due.
Based on the above it now behoves on every big boy in Ekwulobia who will not like to be left out to consult the following persons in their phone numbers (Amaechi 08101612600),(Afam 08137521177),Nonso 08069297076) for further enquiry
Signed
