Observing the three and half years of the impactful governance and leadership exhibited by Prof Chukwuma Soludo, CFR tells all that Oluatuegwu came with a purpose to transform Anambra state.
Leaders think about the next generation, politicians think about the next election. No doubt, Solution Soludo has shown that he is a leader. The two virtues that a leader who makes impact must have are domiciled in the personality of NWA Mgbafor; vision and empathy. Vision makes a leader to be creative and think out of the box, empathy makes the leader to always put people (humanity) first.
The first steps of Prof Chukwuma Soludo when he was sworn in as Governor clearly gives credence to his audacious steps which have impacted greatly in Anambra State. Solution Soludo believes that *A NEW ANAMBRA IS POSSIBLE*. And he is working to realize it.
He identified places that need a touch like Okpoko, Onitsha, Nnewi, the capital city, parts of Orumba and Ayamelum, the food basket of Anambra State and pursued projects that today have set the places apart. OKPOKO is now an urban haven, transformed from a squalor community with no roads, health care centers and schools. Today, the people that live there can’t believe the transformation that hit them like a thunderbolt. Okpoko has become a testimony of urban renewal.
Most parts of Onitsha, especially Fegge, Ochanja, new Market area and inland town looked derilic when Oluatuegwu assumed office. Today a testimony of total transformation have been written in these afore mentioned areas. It looked impossible, but it was done.
Awka today has assumed the true status of a state capital. Many roads have been dualized in Awka. All the adjourning communities to Awka today has dual carriage ways linking them. A brand new government house has been completed, named LIGHT HOUSE. The three arm zone in Awka has been totally transformed. The Emeka Anyoku road leading to the Light House has been transformed. Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square changed. The State House of Assembly transformed, so are the courts.
The roads traversing Anambra State from Amawbia to Uga, from Agulu to Nnewi to Okija, from Ekwulobia to Igboukwu to Nnobi, from Ekwulobia to Umunze are all being dualized. ANAMBRA IS RISING.
Awka got a brand new sporting arena and entertainment center, SOLUTION FUN CITY. Today, children and youths and those who enjoy outdoors events have a place to be entertained. I just drove across the flyover from Ifite into Awka main Street. This is awesome.
In human capital development, one youth two skills program has trained more than 20 thousand youths across different innovations and skills.
More than 8 thousand teachers have been hired, contributing to Anambra state returning to number one in academics in Nigeria. More than 2 thousand health workers hired to provide solid health care to the people. All government owned schools are today free, while all pregnant women attend antenatal free, with free deliveries. Solution Soludo has shown empathy and care.
Why we intentionally state these facts is that many individuals who live outside Anambra, or who don’t travel around are deceived by the propaganda of the opposition. In the security architecture, Soludo has defied the odds and restored full security to Anambra state after insecurities, ravaging the whole country struck Anambra. Many ungoverned territories have been recovered from unknown gunmen and terrorists. Bushes previously occupied by kidnappers have been cleared.
More than 60 kidnap camps have been destroyed. Hundreds killed or arrested while others have ran away from Anambra state. The native doctors aiding them arrested and are being prosecuted.
The Civil service is transformed while the workers are happy. As the election of November 8th comes into view, most Ndi Anambra don’t actually see any contest. Thousands are gearing up to cast their votes for APGA. Many analysts believe it will be a landslide.
