In Delta North politics, noise is often mistaken for progress. The Aniocha/Oshimili bloc (the traditional power axis of Delta North) loves grandstanding: press conferences, viral outrage, fiery newspaper pull-outs, and endless court cases over zoning formulas.

Okolie didn’t announce it with fanfare in 2019–2023. He quietly worked the back channels in the Senate, lobbied the TETFUND board, and secured the only brand-new federal tertiary institution established in Delta State since 1999. Today it’s fully operational, admitting students, and employing hundreds. No ribbon-cutting photo-op, just delivery.

While others were writing open letters, Okolie cornered the Federal Ministry of Works and pushed the Asaba–Ughelli dualization into the 2024 budget. Contract awarded, work ongoing. That road will serve Aniocha, Oshimili, Ika, and Ndokwa people for the next 50 years.

2023–2025 saw the highest number of Anioma sons and daughters in juicy NDDC positions since inception (Executive Director Projects, several board slots, and key directorates). Quiet lobbying, zero press releases. The result? Over ₦47 billion in contracts traced to Delta North communities in the last 18 months alone.

Judicial & Legislative Reforms

Pushed (and got) the establishment of a Federal High Court division in Kwale, ending the era of traveling to Asaba or Warri for federal cases. Again, no billboard, no newspaper advert. Just work.

Now contrast that with the Aniocha/Oshimili approach in the same period: Endless litigation over PDP zoning that has produced zero governorship tickets since 2015

High-decibel social media campaigns that collapse the moment primaries end

Press conferences announcing “betrayal of Anioma interest” every time someone outside their circle wins anything

Zero new federal institutions, zero new federal highways, zero new courts brought home in the last decade

They score superficial political points (“Look at us fighting!”), but the lasting infrastructure (the real seeds of development) are being planted by the supposedly “quiet” Ned Nwoko bloc.

Outrage expires the next morning. Roads, universities, and federal courts last generations.

That’s the difference between playing to the gallery and playing for legacy. One makes you trend for 48 hours. The other changes the economic map of Anioma land for the next century. Okolie’s method is boring, undramatic, and ruthlessly effective. And boring wins in the long run.
