Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, has announced his intention to contest for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections. He made this declaration on Sunday, March 30, 2025, during his Eid-el-Fitr message at his residence in Kaduna. Sani stated that his decision to run depends on the political climate and favorable conditions, saying, “Any politician contesting an election depends on the political equation that determines the position to vie for. If the conditions are right and the equations are favorable, I will offer myself to contest specifically for the Kaduna Central senatorial district.”
While expressing his ambition, Sani emphasized that his primary focus is supporting the re-election of the current governor, Uba Sani, in 2027. He noted, “For now, our priority is to see that the incumbent governor, Uba Sani, is re-elected. We will work with all our might and strength to achieve this.” Sani, who recently returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a stint with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), believes that if the people of Kaduna Central desire his style of leadership and representation, they can expect him back in the Senate in 2027.
Sani also highlighted his broader concerns, condemning the recent lynching of hunters in Edo State and calling for national unity and the protection of human rights. He urged security agencies to act swiftly against such incidents, stating, “If any citizen of this country cannot move from one part of the country to another, then we are not a nation.” His announcement signals his intent to re-enter the political fray, balancing personal ambition with loyalty to Governor Uba Sani’s administration, while advocating for peace and progress in Nigeria.
